The dance styles page is accessible from the Music->Dance menu.  It provides a “table of contents” of the dance styles that we’ve used to categorize songs in our catalog.

 

1. Starting to type the name of a dance into the search filter, which will limit the list of dances to those that include the filter in the name or synonym, as well as the category that includes the filtered dances.
2. Clicking on any top-level category, such as Latin or Swing (or the info button for that category), will take you to a dance details page for that category. The details page gives a description of the category and a list of the dance styles in that category.
3. Clicking on any dance style (or the info button for the style), such as Cha Cha or QuickStep, will take you to a dance details page for that style that gives a description of the style as well as a top ten list and more details about the tempo characteristics of the dance style.
4. Some of the dances have other names listed in parentheses; these are names for the same or very similar dances that may be more familiar depending on your background, region, etc.
5. Each dance style row also contains a button that displays the number of songs that we’ve cataloged in this dance style.  Clicking on the number will take you to the song list page with the songs filtered to that dance style.

Dance styles are also used as a special kind of tag that can be seen in the song lists and included in filters.
